Paul Martin, Jr. left us at the age of 67 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was our volunteer, Elaine Martin’s other half, and dad to their Airedale, Maggie. He was also a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He loved being out on his boat and enjoying his retirement with family and friends.
He was often seen at SOAR events and was an active bidder for several items at the 2012 Aire Affaire. He supported Elaine with her rescue activities and will be missed by all of us here with SOAR.

Friends for a Day
From the first introduction at last year’s Aire Auction, Grace and Elliot knew Paul to be a tender fellow. Especially when lunch time came and we were at the next table well within Elliot’s leash range to do his best sit for Paul and also “wack” him with his great paw. Paul delivered a tasty morsel along with that beautiful smile of his that seemed designed just for such Airedale behavior.
Like our Airedales, the humans who love them share similar qualities; devotion, humor, a zest for life and the ability to linger in our hearts even after they are gone.
Dear Elaine,Your life is forever blessed with having shared the time with this man whose true strength washis gentle kindness. When our own soul expands to allow for love and kindness to those who are vulnerable, faith becomes the model, the example of how life should be valued. We find enlightenment that doing good for all, the poor, children, elderly, animals and our Mother Earth show a reverence to the preciousness of life. We live in harmony and with joy to serve others.I believe this was the good that I felt when I met Paul.Gracie and Elliot send their Airedale kisses to you and to Maggie. My best,Eva Brosco
