I am Ed Stuebe. I currently reside in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I have three beautiful and smart female Airedales. My girls are Miley, Lacy, and Amber. I also have a small, elderly Wire Fox Terrier named Nellie who is the leader of the pack. And the Airedales know it.
My motto has always been, “Airedales are like Jay’s potato chips, you can’t have just one.” For over three decades my family and I have shared our home with 12 different Airedales who have touched each of our hearts in many different ways. My Airedales were always rescues. Most ended up being the runt of the litter or the one nobody wanted. I got most of them from breeders around the midwest. Since my retirement I have wanted to take advantage of my current Airedales’ special traits. My one rescued Airedale and I are enrolled in therapy dog classes. We eventually will be able to visit nursing homes and veterans’ hospitals. We currently have been visiting schools to introduce children who don’t have dogs to our Airedale. She also goes with me when I do home visits for rescue Airedales to see how the adopter reacts to an Airedale. I have never met an Airedale that does not love, no matter the situation it has been through and that feeling is a guiding light.
Through SOAR I plan on helping these precious dogs in any way I can. Dedicating my time to them is very important to me and is a wonderful way to give back to the Airedales. Hopefully I can give back to the breed the same amount of love and respect they have shown me over the last 30 plus years.
