Hi! I'm a new volunteer to SOAR and I have a cute story to share.

My husband had been very sick and has spent 10 days in the hospital.  Fortunately he was well enough to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility which allows dogs as visitors.  I took "Pickles" there twice to visit with him and she is absolutely wonderful with my husband, along with the other residents there.  I wasn't sure how she would react with wheel chairs and walkers all around, but she is as gentle as can be and so well behaved.  Of course she lets everyone pet her and the residents adore her and most even know that she's an Airedale!

Here's a picture of Pickles at the Rehabilitation/Nursing Care Facility with my husband Rick.  He's finally home and feeling much better and back to good health.  I'm going to look into getting Pickles certified for pet therapy. It really is a good feeling to walk into a nursing home, have the elderly people recognize the breed and see how gentle she is with everyone.  I'll keep you posted when we start the pet therapy process.
