“Maggie is, of course, a valuable member of our family. She is now able to play with her toys, now that she knows what they are for and this is heartwarming to see. She is also able to play nicely with people and enjoys being growled at by her dad. This gets her to go to her toys and make them squeak. She remains affectionate with all, including the grandchildren, and of course her mom. We have learned to read her and she tells us in her own way when it is time to eat, go out, and give her some quality time.”
Merry Christmas from Maggie & Family
This is the Christmas note we received from Maggie’s family a few weeks ago. It is what all of us at SOAR live to hear. Just one short year ago at the beginning of December, Maggie came into rescue at the age of ten, heartworm positive and having just had a litter of pups. What a transformation! A little love from Maggie’s family along with help from SOAR volunteers and supporters went a long way.
Tucker had been adopted as a puppy to a family with lots of love to give. As he grew into his adult body, he began to limp and cry. He was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. His family was three hours from the closest place to get him the therapy he needed. He is now getting that therapy and it has made a world of difference with his pain until he is old enough for surgery. This was made possible by the love of a temporary foster family and assistance from Layla’s Fund.
There are many other stories like the two mentioned here for Maggie and Tucker that you can read about on our website under “Tail Wagging Tales.” If your story is not one of them, we invite you to share it with us. We would be happy to start a page for you. We also would like to invite you to consider a donation to assist us as we continue to help Airedales that come into our care in 2016. Click on “Donate” from the home page of our website to find out how, or simply send a check made out to “SOAR” to the address at the bottom.
Bless you for the love you have shared as an adopter, volunteer or supporter in 2015. We could not do rescue without you and look forward to continued relationships in 2016! Give your furry friend a big hug and spread the love around.
