Our Mission

The mission of SOAR is to rescue purebred Airedale Terriers who have found themselves without a home, and help them get started on the road to a happy, new life.

Just one short year ago, Charlotte was a ten-year old mom having puppies. This year we had to say good-bye to her just 5 days before Christmas. It hurts the heart no matter how many times we have helped our furry friends cross over, but this was especially difficult with Charlotte.

It got me to thinking, though. The reason It seems to hurt so much is because our love for these special rescue babies runs deep. We take them in no matter what their past and love them with all our heart and they love us back just the same. I do find comfort in the bond I shared with Charlotte in the short time she was with me. Those moments will be in with me always.

*******

This year one of our wonderful volunteers would like to celebrate her love of rescue Airedales by starting a new fund for SOAR. She keeps in touch not only with all of the Airedales and families who have crossed her path but also with the many friends she has made throughout the Airedale community. During this time, she has seen a need for a fund that would help with vet expenses after the adoption. Even the best of adopters can sometimes find that they need a little help with an unexpected vet expense for their rescue Airedale. Today’s changing times have put some families in a position where they are not able to afford a much needed surgery for their rescue Airedale or the added expense of a special medication. This volunteer would like to be able to see SOAR give them a helping hand and hopefully keep these adoptive families together with their rescue Airedale.

The Cindi Mysyk Fund is already in place to help families of rescue Airedales after the adoption if the Airedale is eight years old or older. This new fund would be able to assist those families with rescue Airedales after the adoption and under the age of eight in a similar fashion. Our volunteer is so committed to this that she will match any donations that come in to get this fund started up to $1,000. Another volunteer has sent $150 as the first donation If you thought of making a donation during this time of year, we ask that you consider helping us reach...or better yet...exceed our goal!

Look into the eyes of your rescue Airedale. Watch the wag of their tail. Give them a big hug. They are a huge part of our lives. They give you all this and much more because you love them so. May you have a blessed 2014!
